I am not sure I like the term “super-agers” any more than “anti-aging.” That said, let’s look at this topic from a positive perspective. Super-agers in their 70s and beyond who maintain exceptional physical and mental health are often enthusiastic about travel as part of their active and fulfilling lifestyles. The connection between super-agers and travel lies in several key benefits and motivations: Benefits of Travel for Super-Agers 1. Cognitive Stimulation Travel exposes super-agers to new environments, cultures, and experiences, which helps keep the brain engaged and improves cognitive function. Exploring unfamiliar places challenges the mind, offering problem-solving opportunities and…

How to plan eco-friendly and sustainable travel
As seniors, embarking on eco-friendly and sustainable travel adventures can not only fulfill our wanderlust but also contribute to a greener planet. Here are ten practical steps to plan environmentally responsible trips. Concerns of Overtourism Worldwide 1. Choose Eco-Friendly Accommodations When selecting accommodations, consider staying at eco-friendly options like eco-lodges, green hotels, or vacation rentals with sustainability certifications. These accommodations often employ energy-efficient practices, such as solar power and energy-saving appliances. They may also implement water conservation measures like low-flow faucets and showers. Choosing such places reduces your environmental impact while enjoying a comfortable stay. 2. Use Public Transportation Prioritize…
The Dignified Dolmens of Carnac
There’s something about the “Standing Stones” that seems to fascinate everyone. Seeing them, such as the Dolmens of Carnac, is quite remarkable. I understand now that people are often disappointed in Stonehenge because of the over-tourism and limited access. It was different for me the first time I saw them as a younger child. But one doesn’t have to venture far to visit the more isolated stones of Avebury. In 2008, we were living in Geneva and looking for a holiday. France is always attractive, but driving can be somewhat of a nightmare with traffic jams no matter the season….

Is Slow Travel for You?
Have you heard of the Slow Travel Movement? It’s a growing trend in travel that focuses on taking things slow and immersing oneself in the local culture and environment. It’s all about quality over quantity and experiencing the journey rather than just rushing to the destination. Ah, slow travel. There’s nothing quite like taking your time and savouring each and every moment. And for seniors, it can be especially rewarding. So why is that you might ask? Well, grab a cup of tea (or a glass of wine, in my case) and settle in because I’m about to tell you….
Day 80 – The Beautiful Vila Nova de Milfontes, Portugal
It was our first decent weather day in over two weeks since we arrived in Europe. The bad news is that all the up-and-down walking on cobblestones and steps after more than 60 days has caused a lot of pain in my left knee. I’m afraid that my knee is entirely shot, and I am worried that another knee replacement will be required sooner rather than later in the future. I set an appointment with my doctor to see if I can get a referral for a specialist. We left Nazare and drove southward, circumventing Lisbon to reach the coast….
