I came across a deal to watch the autumn leaves on a train from Saint Albans, about an hour and 15 south of Montreal and Vermont, down to Washington, D.C. It was a ridiculously cheap fare, but it was 13 hours. There was no way Louise would be inconsiderate on so many accounts, but she suggested my brother, and Greg was keen. Since I couldn’t turn around to get up at dawn the next day, we decided to stay in Washington for two nights. I don’t know what happened in the last three years, but hotels in big cities like…

A Day Trip To 1000 Islands – Worthwhile
Recently, three of my female friends and I took a day trip to 1000 Islands via Gananoque, ON. We had purchased tickets to go on a city cruise of the Thousand Islands. It was hard for me to believe that the other three had never made it to Gananoque or been around the Thousand Islands. I guess I’ll have to make an excuse for them, as they are all Quebecers. We have all wanted to do this for quite some time from Montreal; it’s a little over 500 kilometres round trip, so it takes about 2 1/2 hours each way….
Rouses Point and Border Crossings
Yesterday, we drove down from Montreal to Rouses Point, New York State, to visit an old friend and have lunch together. I had utterly forgotten how close the US border is for us and how easy border crossings still are for us. At the main crossings, the lines can be rather long. The driving took about an hour, considerably less than a trip to Rawdon. We took a back road across the border and down to Rouses Point to avoid a significant crossing. Rawdon – The Perfect Day Trip From Montreal Rouses Point is a charming village in upstate New…

New York City is pretty big, with many people, but many celebrities are also in town. You never know if you might just run across one on the street. And who doesn’t want to see Celebrities in New York City? Well, the odds aren’t that high. I’d like to share three other ways to enjoy “The East Coast Tinseltown” in New York for free. Celebrity Locations New York is home to several television shows. An Internet search can easily reveal the locations used to short-shoot popular series, such as the recent Marvellous, Mrs. Maisel, and Only Murders In The Building….
The New Group and The Seagull Play Broadway
The broadway version is adapted from “The Seagull” by Russian playwright Anton Chekhov, first performed in 1896. The play is a four-act drama focusing on the lives and relationships of several characters, all artists, who gather at a country estate. It deals with lost opportunities and the clash between generations. “The Seagull” is considered a masterpiece of modern drama and has significantly influenced the development of theatre and literature. It has been adapted into many different forms, including films, operas, and plays, and continues to be widely performed and studied today. The Guggenheim Museum and Nick Caves
MembershipsMembershipsSaturday, we visited the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. Some people may tell you that it is the building and not the artwork that is the most impressive. It is true that the building itself is quite a design feat. The most distinctive feature of the museum is its unique architectural design, which features a cylindrical shape and a spiralling ramp that ascends through the building’s six levels. This design allows visitors to view the artworks from different angles and perspectives as they move through the museum. Broadway Review of Pictures From Home Remarkable
Today I got rush tickets on Broadway to see a matinée of “Pictures From Home” starring Nathan Lane, Zoë Wanamaker and Danny Burstein. This is my very first Broadway play, and here is my Review of Pictures From Home. This is a challenging play, and I think it would not be easy to pull off without these three excellent actors. While Nathan Lane might get most of the credit as the headliner, in my opinion, the son’s part is the most challenging. I love Nathan Lane, and I’ve seen him in many performances on TV and in movies and was…
We have settled in Manhattan – Swoon
Well, we have settled in Manhattan. We are so fortunate. No, I realize that this won’t be as relaxing for Louise, and she has to work weekdays. New York City is in OverDrive, and so there’s a lot of stress and pressure on her. For me, it is pure joy. Our two-bedroom apartment is in Lower Midtown, and it’s a little bit bigger, in fact than our Montreal condo. Let’s say it’s remarkable being on the 20th floor. The view is outstanding. I am so spoiled. Can you imagine that I get to live for four months in midtown? We…
Manhattan, New York City, Here We Come
We are off for four months to Manhattan in a week. It has been ten months since we last visited for a week and stayed at the Henn na Hotel, listed as one of The Best Cheap Hotels in New York City for 2023 We have learned a lot from our world trip on packing, but we will have two pieces of luggage each this time. We have also purchased a new small Nespresso machine to take with us. As you may know, I am a bit obsessed with travel books, especially DK Eyewitness books, so we have all of…
