This is the story of our 85-day trip around the world going westward. We started our trip on September 28, 2022, and arrived home on December 21, 2022, in time for Christmas – 20 plane legs later. I hope you’ll join us on this journey, and you can join us on our adventures by going to DAY ONE or joining at any point by looking at the individual days listed to the right. You may have to scroll down a little. We’d miss travelling since Covid, but that wasn’t the reason. Last June, having turned 70 recently and seeing health…

Day 5 – Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley
Perhaps our luck has changed. We had a wonderful day visiting Antelope Canyon and Monument Valley. Today will be one of the most expensive days on our South West road trip and maybe our 85 days. The two tours we are taking are not part of the National Parks, so we have both entrance and tour fees. No regrets – these two sites were breathtaking. Antelope Canyon The Antelope Canyon, run by the Navajo, is remarkable. It had rained today before, and they’d had flash floods. Everything is OK for our trip through the canyon. It’s a 10-minute drive through…
Day 4 – Visiting Around Page Arizona
Today we were considering the north rim and back to Page. However, as I looked at the driving time, I decided it was best to visit many amazing sites around Page Arizona. I still think that the North Rim is more majestic than the south rim of the Grand Canyon, BUT given all the other beautiful things we would be seeing on our journey, I didn’t think missing it would be too much. We tried to book Antelope Canyon, but it was sold out for the day and the next day. We went to another tour company, and they did…
Day 3 – Bad Hotels and The Grand Canyon
Our minor lousy luck continues as we head up to The Grand Canyon. I won’t go into it, but the bathroom in our room was not cleaned very well. We didn’t discover it until after we had settled and didn’t want to move. At first, it just seemed to be dirty towels, and we complained. Later, we discovered it was much worse than they offered us a significant rebate. They were as upset about the situation as we were. We made our way up to the Grand Canyon South rim from Flagstaff. As you can imagine, it was terrific, and…
Day 2 – Route 89 Through Sedona
The day started with good news. We got a message that our luggage would arrive around 9:30 am. The old geezer who delivered our suitcases was pretty fascinating. He’s been skating with “Disney On Ice” for the past 40 years and had travelled everywhere. He gave us some advice on what to do for the day, and we decided to take him up. Our first stop was at Montezuma Castle, where I needed to pick up our national park pass. The whole area was outstanding and worth spending time. Established December 8, 1906, Montezuma Castle is the third National Monument…
