Our minor lousy luck continues as we head up to The Grand Canyon. I won’t go into it, but the bathroom in our room was not cleaned very well. We didn’t discover it until after we had settled and didn’t want to move. At first, it just seemed to be dirty towels, and we complained. Later, we discovered it was much worse than they offered us a significant rebate. They were as upset about the situation as we were.
We made our way up to the Grand Canyon South rim from Flagstaff. As you can imagine, it was terrific, and we spent a lot of time walking up and down the path.
The Magnificant Grand Canyon
Then we still had a long journey up to Page and arrived when it was quite dark. We immediately knew that this hotel would be so, so much worse.
Because we hadn’t booked directly but through Booking.com, we were stuck there for two days. We asked for an extra pillow and were told we already had an extra one. They had given us three, and so no, no more pillows were available. Then we noticed that it was not a queen bed but a double. Again too bad there was nothing available. There was no fan in the bathroom, and the window looked like it hadn’t been opened since the hotel was built in God knows when.
In addition, there appears to have been a bikers’ convention of some sort across the road from us, and at least two dozen were staying where we were. While they weren’t deliberately noisy, they were always in and out, reeving their machines.
More to follow as the next day, it was even worse.
